Okunuşu, Anlamı ve Fazileti
Kafirun Suresi, Kur'an-ı Kerim'in 109. suresidir. 6 ayetten oluşan bu sure, Mekke döneminde indirilmiştir. Adını, ilk ayette geçen "kafirun" (kafirler) kelimesinden almıştır. Sure, Hz. Muhammed'in (s.a.v.) müşriklere hitaben, onların inançlarını kabul etmeyeceğini ve onların da İslam'ı kabul etmeyeceklerini, herkesin kendi inancında kalacağını kesin bir dille ifade etmektedir. Bu sure, inanç özgürlüğünün ve dinde zorlama olmadığının bir ifadesidir.

Hz. Peygamber (s.a.v.), "Kim yatağına girdiğinde Kafirun Suresi'ni okursa, Allah ona şirkten uzak durma beratı yazar" buyurmuştur.
Hz. Peygamber (s.a.v.), sabah ve akşam namazlarının sünnetlerinde Kafirun ve İhlas surelerini okumuştur. Bu sebeple, bu namazların sünnetlerinde bu sureleri okumak sünnettir.
Kafirun Suresi'ni okuyan kişinin, şirkten ve küfürden korunacağı rivayet edilmiştir.
Kafirun Suresi, Kur'an'ın dörtte birine denk olduğu rivayet edilmiştir. Bu sureyi okuyan kişi, Kur'an'ın dörtte birini okumuş gibi sevap kazanır.
Kafirun Suresi'nin indirilme sebebi, Mekke müşriklerinin Hz. Muhammed'e (s.a.v.) yaptıkları bir teklifle ilgilidir. Rivayete göre, Kureyş'in ileri gelenleri Hz. Peygamber'e (s.a.v.) gelerek şöyle bir teklifte bulundular: "Ey Muhammed! Gel, bir yıl sen bizim ilahlarımıza tap, bir yıl da biz senin ilahına tapalım. Eğer senin dinin hak ise, biz ondan nasibimizi almış oluruz. Yok, eğer bizim dinimiz hak ise, sen de ondan nasibini almış olursun."
Hz. Peygamber (s.a.v.), bu teklifi kesin bir dille reddetti ve Allah, Kafirun Suresi'ni indirerek, Hz. Peygamber'in (s.a.v.) müşriklere vereceği cevabı bildirdi. Bu surede, Hz. Peygamber'in (s.a.v.) müşriklerin taptıklarına tapmayacağı, müşriklerin de Allah'a tapmayacakları, herkesin kendi inancında kalacağı kesin bir dille ifade edilmektedir.
Kafirun Suresi, inanç konusunda uzlaşma olmayacağını, herkesin kendi inancında özgür olduğunu vurgulayan bir suredir. Bu sure, İslam'ın inanç özgürlüğüne verdiği önemi göstermektedir.
